Kate Brocklehurst

Physiotherapist

Email: katebrocklehurst@ssop.com.au

Qualifications:

» BHSc (Physiotherapy)
» Member APA
»Certified Pilates Practitioner

Background:

Kate graduated from one of the leading Physiotherapy Universities in New Zealand, the Auckland University of Technology, gaining an award for the most outstanding clinical practice and scoring 100% in her final exam. After graduating, Kate worked in a multidisciplinary private practice specialising in sports and spinal rehabilitation, alongside a variety of top physiotherapists and specialists including orthopaedic surgeons.

Kate was the Physiotherapist for numerous Gymnastics clubs, including working at the New Zealand Gymnastics National championships.

Kate has an impressive background in Artistic Gymnastics - highlights include representing New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and the World Championships in 2003. She was forced to retire from gymnastics due to a lower back injury and it was this that piqued her interest in Physiotherapy, and Pilates as an effective rehabilitation tool.

After spending 2012 backpacking around Asia, Africa, Europe and Canada, Kate has decided to settle 'across the ditch'. She is looking forward to a warm climate, learning to surf and getting back into crossfit and running.

Kate believes it is important to treat in a holistic manner and uses a combination of hands-on manual therapy, pilates-based exercise and biomechanical analysis in order to achieve lasting results for her patients. She has a keen interest in Women's Health physiotherapy and can help treat conditions such as urinary incontinence or poor bladded control, bowel incontinence or constipation, over-active bladded & urge incontinence, pregnancy and post-natal care, vaginal prolapse, painful sex and pelvic pain.
