Geoff graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Science (Exercise Science) in 1999. After working briefly as an exercise physiologist, he returned to study physiotherapy at the University of Sydney, graduating in 2003. Geoff now uses both his exercise prescription and manual therapy skills to achieve a well-rounded, comprehensive and long lasting treatment plan for his patients.
His Master’s thesis investigated how the middle part of the back can affect shoulder mobility and function. From here, his interest and understanding of the human body moved away from a focus on pain, to looking at the body as a whole in order to find and treat the actual ‘cause’ of the underlying problem. As a result, Geoff is able to successfully treat most problems within a shorter time-frame and with fewer visits. After working for a year in Australia, Geoff moved to the UK to broaden his experience and skills. The majority of his time abroad was spent working at a highly respected physiotherapy practice with clinics in both Harley Street and South-East London. During this time, he treated a number of West End and National Theatre performers, as well as professional rugby players. Due to the high profile of the practice, he was able to work in close liaison with England’s leading orthopaedic surgeons and sports physicians.
Having developed his examination and treatment skills, Geoff is glad to be back in Australia and part of the SSOP team.
In February 2012, Physiotherapy on Pitt was opened with Geoff as Senior Physiotherapist. There are now 4 physiotherapists at Physiotherapy on Pitt with Geoff as Director.
